Craft Section
The newly established craft section is responsible for the development of craft in the country. Through workshops and collaborations with the existing craft associations and artisans, the section has the mandate to develop craft at grass root level and help share tradition craft practices to the younger generation.

The key objectives of the 36th Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2023 is to promote handicrafts and handlooms with the aid of craftsmen invited from all over the country and the rest of the world.
The goal of the Surajkund International Crafts Mela is to promote India’s art forms. The ‘Mela’ identifies languishing and lesser-known crafts and offers a forum for their exhibition and export as well.
It also allows the participated countries to share ideas and explore prospective possibilities in terms of exchange and exportation of their product. This year the Seychelles delegation participated in the fair with nineteen (19) people. Fourteen (14) were performers of the L’echo band, four (4) artisans and a head of delegation.
The band performed a series of traditional music such as sega/ moutya and the craftsmen participated with a variety of product such as candles with its holders made from coconut shells, seashells, as coco-de-mer shaped artefacts, raffia made frames, vakwa bags and purses, wooden tortoises display and key rings.
The delegation was hosted for an official dinner by Mrs Lalitacha Accouche the newly High Commissioner of Seychelles in India who also visited the fair and attended the live performance by the band.
