The 5th Seychelles Fashion Week (SFWK) will be held from September 26 to October 1, 2022.
This year, for the first time, the shows will be held on four different islands – Mahé, La Digue, Praslin and Ste Anne.
The week-long activity will start with the fittings by the designers on September 24 and 25. This will be followed on September 26 and 27 by the model boot camp and workshop which will be conducted by two professionals – Armando Azevedo from UK and Kgomotso Seboko from South Africa.
The workshop is sponsored by Creative Seychelles Agency, Levasseur Rum and the SFWK.
For the first time in Seychelles Mac cosmetic International, our brand makeup which is sponsoring the SFWK, will also be conducting a workshop with the local makeup artist who will be working during the event with the participation of Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) students studying makeup and hair.
The workshop is sponsored by Mac, STA and SFWK.
The hair products are a new hair brand R+Co from USA developed and sponsored by Richy Kandasamy, a top Seychellois hair stylist in the USA.
The official launch of SFWK will be on September 26 at Maison Marengo, showcasing our young talent in the fashion industry.
Designers Christine Reginald will present a collection for the plus size models, Emmally Hoareau will be back with a new collection and Charlise Federia will showcase her brand for the first time in Seychelles, followed by samples of collection by designers touring our islands.
Tickets for the official launch which will be for invitees and paid guests only, cost R1000 for dinner, show and after-party in collaboration with Maison Marengo and SeyPearl. Entertainment will be provided by Aaron, Emergency Crew and Telly’s models dance group.
The second show will take place for the first time on La Digue, whereby models from the islands – Kaline Jeannevol, Yusrah Vandagne and Melisse Labonte – will grace the catwalk alongside models from Mahé, designers showcasing Darren Esther and Fina Zialor from Seychelles, Silungile Mokoena, Gugu Bhengu, Lunga Ntuli from South Africa and Ajitesh Sharma from India. The event will comprise a welcoming drink, dinner, fashion show, performances by Colvin and Mardilo from La Digue, and after-party in collaboration with SeyPearl and La Digue Island Lodge.
Tickets for dinner and show cost R1600 and R600 for show only.
The third show will take place, also for the first time, on Praslin where model from the island – Deidrey Roucou, will grace the catwalk alongside models from La Digue and Mahé. Designers whose work will be showcased include Abigail Resego from Botswana, Emily Nikanor from Namibia, Isha Mboyisa, Londiwe Ndlovu from South Africa, Mona Ah-Shung and Darren Esther from Seychelles. Tickets costing R400 comprise a package of welcoming drinks, two cocktails and fashion show.
VIP tickets costing R1200 includes walking dinner, free flow of bubbles, fashion show and all will end with after-party at Tapas.
Club Med on Ste Anne will host the fourth show, also a first. Models from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue will grace the catwalk, for Top haute couture designers from France Anggy Haif, Araba Hackman and Armando Azevedo from UK, Dwi Iskandar from Indonesia in collaboration with Nigel Henrie from Seychelles, Sistas Felas, Zamaswazi and Precious Lulu Couture from South Africa, Romeo Paul from Qatar, and Vanessa Songwar from Seychelles. The event will offer the guests the opportunity to experience Club Med as an event hotel. The package includes boat transfer, welcoming drinks, international buffer dinner, unlimited drinks on certain beverages at the bar, free use of the facilities at the hotel, fashion show and after-party on the beach: dress code – Tropical Floral. The event is sponsored by Club Med, SeyPearl and the SFWK.
Tickets cost R3500 per person, groups of ten R3000 per person.
Overnighting costs R12,000 to R15,000 per night per stay for 2 persons, all inclusive.
This year two international models – Lily Eri from Ethiopia and Yiye Mackey from Qatar – will also be participating. Lily, who is also a singer, will be performing during the event.
The SFWK will also organise a fashion grand exhibition and fair from September 28 to October 1 in town in collaboration with Enterprise Seychelles Agency (Esa), National Arts & Craft Council (NACC), Seychelles Creative Agency and SeyPearl. The event is coordinated by Nigel Henrie.
SFWK is inviting the fashion industry to seize this opportunity to promote their products and services, like offering special discounts for hair, makeup, massage etc during the week.
Fashion boutiques in town are also being urged to come to the fair and offer special discounts on their products.
The fair will also see the participation of international designers and exhibitors, as well as several surprises.
This year the participation of young Seychellois designers will be a competition in collaboration with Anggy Haif and AHDV Fashion Paris. The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of €2000 and training in France to participate in Paris Fashion Week in January 2023. The prize will be a yearly attraction for young designers from the Seychelles to participate in the SFWK, eventually that will also encourage students to join the Seychelles Institute of Art & Design (Siad) and be trained in the fashion industry.

According to the organisers the 5th SFWK will be “one big glamorous event to remember”.
